Secret worlds
Have you ever passed someone on the street and thought about their lives, their beliefs and hidden secrets? I do that quite often and I am convinced that we do not know as much about each other than we think.
But not only do we not know the real thoughts and feelings of people we meet by chance, I dare to say that it is the exact same with people close to us. And that is because of something I would like to call our “secret world”.
It is common for us to have a secret world or inner world that we do not share with others. This secret world can be a private realm of thoughts, feelings, and experiences that are not readily apparent to those around us. Some parts of this realm we hide intentionally, while we might not even be aware of others ourself.
There are many reasons why we may have a secret world. One of the most common reasons is that it provides a sense of privacy and control. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with stimuli and social pressures, having a space that is exclusively ours can be comforting and empowering. It allows us to process our thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment or interference from others.
Additionally, having a secret world can serve as a form of escapism. Sometimes, we need to retreat from reality and create our own world in order to cope with difficult or stressful…
